2025 Travel Plans?

I am hoping to increase my travel this year. So far I have a June trip to Germany and Switzerland booked. One week in Baden-Baden, Germany and two weeks in Lenk, Switzerland. Maybe another week after.

We liked our first visit to Baden-Baden in October but it rained almost the whole time we were there. Hoping for better weather this time. I found a nice looking rental in a small town just outside Baden-Baden. Found it on Airbnb but then found the owner’s website so we don’t have to pay the dreaded Airbnb fees. Staying in our usual place in Lenk.

Nice to think of mountain vacations on these dreary winter days.

Where are you going next year?

Our trip this year will be a mix of old favorites and new experiences. We'll be heading back to the Czech Republic and Italy in the fall. It will be our third time in Prague but first time in Cesky Krumlov. Planning on taking the NightJet to Venice (our favorite city) and staying a couple of weeks with day trips around the Veneto. We will be flying through Istanbul for the first time, so I've added a couple of days there.

We are off to Italy (surprise!!!) in late April for our usual month. We are flying into Milan, heading for Parma first for five nights. Then to Chianti--Castellina in Chianti--for six nights, Faenza in Emilia-Romagna for five nights, Padova for six nights, and Mantova for five nights. Our friends from Rome, Maureen and Franco, will be joining us in Chianti and we are meeting our Swedish friend Ulf in Faenza. We fly back home from Milan on May 22.

we're adding an additional week to our annual late-winter visit to Anguilla, so we'll be there for three weeks (mid Feb-early March)
we have a family wedding in Hawaii at the end of June, so we're adding on a few extra days to round up to 1 week. wedding is in Oahu, and we considered visiting another island, but decided to just stay put
Hubby is planning a dream trip to play links golf in Scotland with a friend at the end of August.
Big trip for us in 2025 is 4 weeks in Japan, late October to late November. in the throes of planning that right now..........

We are returning to France for ten weeks from mid April ( Easter ) to end of June. It will follow our usual format of one or two week stays with six bases. We fly in and out of Lyon and will spend our time in Burgundy and some departments bordering Burgundy. Looking forward to just spending time in our favourite places.

After a difficult second half of 2024, we're planning on a low season trip to Spain. Starting 10th January for a month and hoping to avoid the crowds by travelling in January we'll be staying a week each in Madrid and Sevilla, 3 nights each Toledo and Cordoba, then down towards Murcia (finally - the area has been on my list for 5 years now!), and then a few days each near Calp-Denia and to get a short taste of Valencia before flying home. Fingers crossed we can go and happy travels and planning to everyone!

A few firsts for us this year: in Feb we're taking a small group tour to Mexico, exploring Mayan and Aztec cultures.

In April we'll have a week in London, then take the chunnel to Paris. From Paris we'll take a 7 day cruise on the Seine, followed by a few days in Paris.

In Sept we'll fly to Bucharest to join my daughter and SIL for a 2 week, small group tour of Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Albania. After that 7 weeks in Umbria.

I wanted to go to Scotland, but just couldn't make it work! So many places!!!

Your trip sounds fantastic! Baden-Baden is beautiful, even if the weather wasn’t on your side last time—fingers crossed for better luck this time! I’ve stayed in Lenk before too, and it’s such a peaceful spot for hiking and just unwinding. That’s a great find with the rental through the owner's website—always nice to skip those Airbnb fees. Definitely a nice way to break up these dreary winter days thinking about mountains and fresh air!

Australia later this month, Portugal in April (Algarve and Madeira), Italy (Umbria and Emilia Romagna) in May/June, France in July (Marseille and Normandy) and Greece (Ionian and Athens) in Aug/Sept.
