Interesting and enticing list. This will be a cost-incurring year for us (we're moving) and I doubt we'll cross the ocean for vacation, when the time comes (late August for 2015). The Western hemisphere selections in the article are definite food for thought for us this year.

@Terry Santa Fe, my old hometown, was picked as Conde Nast Readers Choice best small city in America. That is a great area to travel in and August/September a good time to be there.

I've never heard of Cartmel in the Lake District... I'll have to look that up.

The haute cuisine mentioned in the article must refer to l'Enclume, a famous high-budget restaurant in the village. On a more everyday level, the village is the 'home of Sticky Toffee Puddings'.

Well, we love sticky toffee pudding, so this is good to know!

I looked up Cartmel on the map... it's south of where we cut across Yorkshire on our Coast-to-Coast walk, an hour and a half's drive from St. Bees where we started. I don't know that part of England... but looks like somewhere interesting to visit.
