A new book about Italy - Wild Swimming Italy: Discover the most beautiful rivers, lakes, waterfalls and hot springs of Italy, by Michele Tameni, is out on 12 May 2014 (Wild Things Publishing, £16.99).
There is an article about the book in today's Guardian, with a list of 10 places.
The Guardian - Top 10 wild swimming locations in Italy
Come on in... from emerald lakes to river beaches and crashing waterfalls, we pick 10 of the most beautiful and secluded inland locations from the new book Wild Swimming Italy.
I spent several trips hunting out natural hot springs in Tuscany. My favorites were all in southern Tuscany:
Bagno Vignoni, San Casciano dei Bagni and Saturnia. None make this list (but maybe they are in the book).
List of wild swimming locations from the article:
1 Torrente Fer, Piedmont
2 Spiaggia Giamaica, Lombardy
3 Riva del Garda, Italian Lakes
4 Pozze Smeraldine, Dolomites
5 Candalla, Tuscany
6 Bidente di Pietrapazza, Emilia Romagna
7 Mercatello sul Metauro, Abruzzo
8 Terme del Bullicame, Lazio
9 Cascata Capelli di Venere, Campania
10 Rio Pitrisconi, Sardinia
