For an upcoming trip I got two text message from Delta yesterday that said, Weather Wavier - Weather may affect your travel. For flight status please see link. For alternative flights please see link
The first link just gives you the log in page at Delta
The second link takes you to the Delta mobile application
I guess it's to get you to down load the Delta mobile application. I think it's a poorly worded text message, almost crossing the line of being spam-ish.
Better wording should have been, Delta's Mobile Application allows you to check flight status and purchase tickets, or something similar
