Dublin Airport Hotel Pt 2

I'm starting a new thread because we've finalized our flights and will now spend ONE night in Dublin (Aug 29) before flying to Bucharest.

We arrive in DUB at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, and depart on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. TBH we really have no wishlist of things to see, but if it's uncomplicated, we'll probably go onto the city center for a meal and a walk.

HERE'S THE QUESTION: can you recommend a hotel with easy connections to BOTH the city and the airport? I realize that for some airport hotels, that could mean retuning to the airport for bus connections. My initial feeling is to stay at an airport hotel, but I'm not sure that it matters.

Again, this is just for one night. TIA, again.

Loads of different buses serving airport and city (I think air coach was the one I used to use).

so if you do want to stay in the city (or travel in for an evening) there's lots of options, and taxis were reasonably enough that hopping in one to get back to the airport might be ideal for peace of mind.

As an alternative, Malahide isn't far away at all and IIRC it's the home of Irish cricket and I recall being told it was a pleasant place. Perhaps an option for being by the sea and enjoying saying you went near Dublin, but never went into the city!

The bus we took from the airport to the city center dropped us essentially in front of Trinity College; so, if you’re looking for the absolute most efficient bus service, I’d look for a hotel close to there (it will likely be somewhat more expensive than, say, a hotel by Christchurch, which is where we stayed). As your flight is early afternoon, you should have plenty of time for the short bus travel back to the airport. I agree, however, with Ian’s suggestion that a cab to the airport might be the golden ticket for you. Another note: you’ll be early for hotel check-in (unless you pay for a room the night before your arrival), but any decent hotel will hold your luggage until check-in time, freeing you up for a good full Irish breakfast.

We've used the bus to/from the airport and city center, and both times our hotel was quite close to the bus stop. Perhaps staying the in center might be better! I had convinced myself that it made sense to stay at an airport hotel, but we'd STILL have to drag our luggage around, on/off the shuttle bus. For just slightly more effort we could be conveniently located to do as much (or even as little!) as we want. Thanks! NOW - who has a reasonbly priced hotel in the center of Dublin to recommend? I don't mind staying near the Post Office, on the north side of the the Liffey.
