Family Friendly hotel or b&b in Edinburgh

We're (myself, husband, daughter (14) and son (16) ) are going to be in Edinburgh July 23rd - 26th. I'm hoping to find a reasonable (say around $250/night) hotel or b&b for the four of us. Any suggestions?
We'd like to stay within old town/new town area, but are hoping to find a place that is quiet, especially as we'll be there over a weekend. I've done a little searching on Expedia and tripadvisor but haven't found anything that isn't either really expensive or with a large number of bad reviews.

Susan, you should also do a search on Booking.com. They are becoming increasingly dominant in Europe and cover hotels, B&Bs/inns, and some rentals. What I like is that the search tools are really easy to use and to narrow down based on a variety of criteria... and then it's easy to book with them. (Company is owned by Priceline.)

Also, the reviews are all verified... you can't review a property unless you booked through Booking.com.

I did a quick search and looks like there would be some options for a room/apartment for four adults within your price range... and with decent reviews.
