I've always loved the V&A for it's eclectic collections both modern and old. The Italian Cast Courts have always been a fascination for me but they've been under-cover - over the last few years I've visited - as these massive plaster casts were in need of cleaning and repairs. There are about 60 casts/reproductions of iconic Renaissance sculpture and architecture in the vast court rooms. At the end of November 2014, this wondrous display of refurbished casts has re-opened. It's on my London list this year!
I can't go to the V&A without lunch or tea in the Gamble/Poynter/Morris Dining Rooms to drink in the atmosphere. The food has much improved over the years, especially when Benugo took over the catering. they also have the contract at the British Museum Restaurant on the upper level. I've often taken a tea break under the glass dome, before I could face wandering back out into the museum.
As you leave the V&A dining rooms, look for the a modern wooden door with the toilet symbol on it. Behind this door, which I have sometimes missed, is the Queen Victoria Toilets, with their lovely old sinks and green tile design. Isn't everything about design at the V&A???
edited to add: my photos didn't download I need to revisit "how to" photo downloads
