Help Needed Italo vs Frecciarossa trains

I've not tried Italo trains, but paying the modest upgrade to travel in 1' classe on a Frecciarossa train is (IMO) very good value, and something we do every time. Booking in advance can also make such savings that there is genuine guilt at how cheap it is! They are comfortable, spacious and there certainly used to be a trolley giving out a free drink and snack (and newspaper on some)

Frecciarossa is run by the Italian state railway company whereas Italo is private. So if there are problems, trains can be diverted etc to give Frecciarossa priority. Not sure if the same applies to Italo. So I use Frecciarossa.

When Italo started they surpassed anything Trenitalia (freccia lines) had to offer with a younger friendlier staff. Since then Trenitalia has seen the light and I have noticed a marked improvement. I have used both several times and now not much a difference except what best fits my schedule needs.
