This villa is located in Impruneta, about a 20 minute drive south of Florence. The owner lives very close by as does the manager of the vineyard and olive orchard on the property. The entire property is fenced in and there is a locked gate at the driveway entrance. There is a pool and also other areas for recreation such a ping pong table, foosball table and soccer (football) nets.

We stayed here for two weeks in August, 2019. We were 10 adults and 3 teenagers. There are two attendants who prepare breakfast each morning. The rooms are cleaned and fresh towels are supplied each day. Bed linens are changed each week. The place is kept immaculately clean.

You are provided with a complimentary bottle of wine and olive oil produced on the property. There is also a complimentary wine tasting. You can arrange for a chef to come in to prepare dinner. Since we were 5 couples, each couple selected a menu in advance. You pay for the food and a fee for the chef and two servers. The meals were excellent and we dined outdoors around sunset in a lovely setting.

All the bedrooms have air conditioning, but not the common rooms. However, even in August there was a decent breeze in the common areas. If you can’t do stairs, this is not the place for you. You have to walk up one flight just to get to the common area and two of the bedrooms. You will need a car or at least arrange for a driver if you plan to go anywhere. There is plenty of parking if you have a rental car(s). If you drive, the road to the villa is narrow, hilly and windy, but then if you’ve been to Tuscany you know that!

One interesting site not to be missed is the American cemetery. One day driving down from the villa in the distance we saw all these white crosses, just like what you see at the American cemetery in Normandy. Well it turns out there is an American cemetery in the next town, Tavarnuzze. Who knew? Buried there are American servicemen who died in the Italian campaign. I highly recommend you visit, and walk all the way up the hill to the memorial.

Room tip: If you can do steps (I think I remember it was 76 from the ground floor) take the tower room. It is very private and you have your own living room area.
