New Registrations now must pass Captcha

I have been swamped with spam bots trying to register on the forums. Over the past month I had 1400+ from the same Russian IP address until I clued in and banned the address. But they will just use another. Their registration checked by STOPFORUMSPAM and put into a queue if they meeting certain spam criteria. Then I have to review and decide if spam or not.

“Real People” are not caught by this and they get to register and post, but I still review everyone’s first post and catch some spammers there.

I have now added Cloudflare Captcha to the registration. I’m not sure how it works but it promises not to use those annoying photos where you have to click parts of it - click all staircases. I just tried to register and it didn’t ask me anything, just said I was verified.

This won’t affect current members but may affect new members. I hope it cuts down on the 50+ spammers per day that I am getting! What has this world come to when we have to deal with this on a cosy little travel forum?
