Oktoberfest

Wasn't there on opening day. Is the opening day different from the rest ?

In September and October 2018, didn't notice any big lines.

Do you mean entrance tickets ? Table resevation ?
Tickets weren't required to enter most of the tents. There were a few tents that were per invitation only. Better to get there before 19:00 as afterwards many tents start filling up, and when a tent is full, they don't let more people in.

The tents differ in music, atmosphere, and the beer being served. Some have a more jolly atmosphere, some less. You can enter different tents and stay as long as you want in each.

Many wore the traditional clothes, and many wore regular clothes.

Regarding lodging, it isn't necessaty to stay close to the festivities area, the important thing is that the accommodation is close to a U-Bahn station.

It's open from morning till 22:00, but many tents stop letting people in around 21:00.

Hope this helps. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
