We are keen to travel between Limoges in France to Salzburg in Austria. We would prefer to take our time over a couple of weeks and we don't want to drive or fly. Thinking of taking local trains and buses but wondering about the possibility of doing this and which general route we should take. Would welcome any suggestions.

I look at the site www.rome2rio.com for route possibilities. The most direct route by train shows with changes in Paris (change of stations) and Munich. If you'd rather make your stops (over time) in smaller places, you can look at the map, think some more about where you'd like to stop, and plan from there.
