Hi. Indeed. Its causing quite a few issues in Spain. I live here and the identification laws are for me as well, not just people visiting from abroad. I booked a hotel and I had to give my name and my wifes plus the names of my kids and provide my relationship to them. (Two sons and a stepdaughter). Home address, method of payment, reason for visit.
I suppose that the OTA's like booking will catch up and have all the extra details on a profile that gets sent to the hotel if you make a reservation with them rather than direct with the hotel. Its causing a huge amount of extra work for the hotel staff as well.
There are also safety issues here when giving out so much personal information.... Dodgy people would have your home address and know your away dates for example.
