Spas near Florence, Lucca

Monsummano Grotta Giusti Spa is a 30 minute train ride from Lucca, Italy. It includes a lovely huge thermal 'swimming pool' with four or five 7-person jet pools within it, and a casual restaurant serving fresh and healthy food with tables inside and around the pool. They offer all kinds of massages and aroma therapy sessions. I also loved the thermal caves that are healing, silent, lit up, allowing you to walk through and sit in different areas with your robes on, that are provided by the spa. Make reservations ahead. Take the train from Lucca to Montecatini, then with pre-arrangement the Grotta Giusti will pick you up, but only at certain times. I've also called a taxi from the train station stop of "Montecatini Terme" to transport us to Monsummano for about 15 minutes. I've taken my Italy Retreats for Women groups there three different times. Montecatini Terme is also a famous spa, but I think it is smaller and I have not been there! Remember, these thermal springs (terme) have no odor such as ones I've been in around the US, so no sulphuric smell.

It's been 15 years, but I've been to Montecatini Terme and it was very nice. We stayed at the Grand Hotel and La Pace. I don't know the costs, etc., as that was a business trip with our European managers from the company we worked for back then, so we didn't have to pay.
