Tap To Pay Questions

I've set up (different) credit cards on each of our phones so we can tap to pay on the Tube in London. I know we need to turn on NFC, but do I turn it off after each use? Or at the end of each day? Or can it stay on all the time? Other than battery drain, us there anything else I need to know? TIA

I’m not sure that you can even turn off NFC on the newer phones, can you? Even if so, i don’t see a reason to do that. One bit of advice tho: be sure that you use the same card to exit the tube that you used to enter it; if you use different cards, it won’t register correctly and you’ll get charged for crossing all nine zones of metro London.

No, it doesn't, at least not on the access gates. You will need a Navigo of some variety, or you can still get paper tickets from the staffed service point for the time being

Spoke too soon. In Paris, you have to buy tickets electronically which you can load on to a Navigo card or smartphone or smartwatch (metro and bus/tram tickets count separately). But there isn't a London-style direct once-a-day withdrawal from your bank account - you have to decide in advance how many tickets to buy. You can still buy paper tickets for the time being, but ideally they'd like to get rid of them.
