This three-bedroom house, on the site of the Alla Madonna del Piatto Bed and Breakfast, is really lovely; comfortable and clean while offering all the charm of rural Umbria. Hosts Letizia and Ruurd have recently renovated this home with a careful eye to maintaining the historic character while introducing up-to-date touches such as ample hot water, comfortable new beds, a great kitchen with dishwasher, and a new washing machine for travelers' laundry. The main floor of the home is wheelchair accessible (including the main floor bathroom) and has two bedrooms (one has a hide-a-bed and desk and could serve as a study); the third bedroom and second bathroom (with bathtub and shower) are upstairs.
The free WiFi works well, there are numerous windows on three sides of the house to provide beautiful views and breezes, and the atmosphere is completely calm, cool and quiet. Perched on the side of a mountain only 7 kilometers (about 4 miles) from Assisi, the entire property is a true oasis after a hectic day of sightseeing. Excellent value for such a spacious home that is well laid out so that the bedrooms have privacy from each other (for families or friends that are a mix of night owls and early birds!)
Some evenings, I relaxed on the large terrace of the B&B with a glass of wine, some of Letizia's figs, and enjoyed the spectacular views across the valley. I also participated in one of Letizia's splendid cooking classes and it was so relaxing at the end of the day to be able to simply walk the few steps back to the holiday rental home, tummy full of great Umbrian cuisine. I really did not want to leave. Highly recommended.
