2025 Travel Plans?

But for an experience like this the journey is one of the main goals, not necessarily the destination?
Oh, you are definitely right about the cost for two nights. As you say though a good part of it is the experience and the journey. Obviously everything is covered from food, drink, tours, transportation to and from the train station to anywhere in Rome or the airport, but still, jeeze.

Still crazy expensive, but we are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on May 2nd, so we're splurging!:blushing:

When I read all the posts, I remember how many places I want to see that I've overlooked. Then, when I get to Italy, I just want to stay put, visit with my friends, rest and relax, search out new places to enjoy. Ugh, I do this every 6 months while contemplating my next visit. I guess you really can't teach an old dog new tricks. This year I will really try to get motivated to see another country I've not visited. (hahaha)...

PS, I will say, though, I'm excited to stay at Giulia's in Marche this May as it's been some years now....

Old dogs like us don't need new tricks, we already know'em! :D

I hear you Cheryl. There are other countries we have wanted to visit. However, time is running out for us (I've stopped buying green bannas ;)) and there is something to be said about staying where you are happy.

Every year for the last 5+ years or so I've planned my travel as if it would be my last trip ever. So - did I want to return to a beloved favorite spot? (Italy/England/Scotland), or did I want to try something new? Being able to take more than one trip a year is a big help, for sure. Anyway, thanks to this philosophy I added Morocco, Croatia and new this year, Romania!

Barb,
My last trip will be never! Happy trails! :)

Flying AerLingus from Chicago - Rome so decided to layover 3 nights in Dublin (never been, despite pushing through every word of Joyce’s Ulysses one recent psychotic summer), then usual 4 wks of May in our apt in Montone, but adding on 5 day trip to Dordogne (Sarlat) before return to Chicago. Too much flying for my taste but not many summers left, I’m afraid.

we loved our time in Matera. lots of good walking, including the walk across the Tibetan bridge to the other side of the ravine. also, best gelato I have. ever. eaten. was in Matera, at I Vizi degli Angeli.
