American Airlines Award Miles Sale

I think this starts in October, but I know it runs through May 15, 2016, roundtrip airfares to Europe as low as 40,000 miles. You can also book a one way fare for 20,000 miles, which is what we're considering.

There will be taxes to pay, of course, and that will vary by airport. For the Bordeaux-Tampa flight is't $242 per person.

I'm just about ready to book both the transatlantic cruise and the return flight using FF miles with American Airlines that I've been thinking about. I've got two different itineraries on hold with American, both departing Barcelona on Friday, May 13 (yep!). I would have preferred a Saturday or Sunday departure but everything was either sold out or got in VERY late, requiring a layover in our city of entry, then a flight the next morning to Miami and on to Tampa.

The first flight I put on hold arrives at JFK, and from there we fly to Miami, then Tampa, arriving in Tampa at 10:55 pm. Then there's the cab ride home to wherever we happen to be living by then! The second flight brings us into Charlotte, arriving at 6:35 pm, and we'd spend the night in Charlotte, then fly to Miami/Tampa the next day. I'm torn between sucking up a VERY long travel day, and just staying over at an airport motel. Please help me decide!

When we lived in Santa Fe, we had very long flights back from Europe, usually arriving in the US, then one flight to Albuquerque, then an hour drive home, arriving around 9pm (Mountain time, so similar to your Florida time). You have more flights. 11pm in Florida is 5am the next day in Europe - am I right? So you will have been up since early morning in Europe, then the equivalent of missing a night's sleep. But our timing was the same. I remember passing out on the Atlanta to Albuquerque flight, but then being okay when we got home. And then being a zombie for a week.

I would do the whole thing in one go and let yourself have a few easy days when you get home to recover.
