Are there any great inexpensive hotels in London?

For some reason I find looking for hotels in London more daunting than any other city. Does anyone have a favorite hotel for a single woman on a budget?

We have stayed at Vancouver Studios in London. It was recommended by other SlowTrav people. Good location, very nice hotel. It used to be a good price - not sure what it is now.

Once we stayed in an inexpensive place near Earl's Court but the room was SMALL - very small. Just a bit larger than the bed. Thinking about it, we have been in a few London hotels like that.

In major cities I generally do bidding on priceline using betterbidding to get an idea of accepted prices. However, a few years ago some friends and I were going to London and I was lucky enough to find an apt near Oxford Street. During my research I came across these B&Bs that might be worth checking out
