An interesting article in the Telegraph about the 100 anniversary of Laurie Lee's birth. He lived and wrote about Slad, in the area where I live (the next valley east).
The Telegraph - Laurie Lee's Cotswolds
Next month will mark 100 years since the birth of Laurie Lee, who immortalised a special corner of England in 'Cider with Rosie’. Brian Jackman explores the writer’s old haunts in the Gloucestershire village of Slad.
Slad is a beautiful village tucked below the road that goes from Stroud to Birdlip. There are good walking trails and much of the valley is a nature preserve. The Woolpack, the local pub, is excellent.
