ATM Card - Chip needed?

I use my Capital One Money Market card as my ATM card when I travel. It's only a debit card.

It does not have a chip.

I used it in France in spring 2016 with no problem in bank ATM, but checking to see if things may have changed since then. It would only be used to get cash not, not for any purchases.

Thanks!

Thanks! I figured it would be okay. I'm not even sure if our type of ATM cards even come with chips. :-) I hate traveling with my regular bank ATM where it could be stolen and used as a VISA card with little protection for me.

I opened up a special bank account at a different bank, only withdrew money using an inside post office ATM to prevent skimming, and made sure it was not also a debit card with the thought that the only way to use it if lost or stolen was to have my ATM password. Yes, I am paranoid when I travel with my banking info!

I'm exactly the same way. Plus, on my travel account it's much less $ then in my regular bank account. If it's an extended trip, I will put in a smaller amount and then do an online transfer, that way I'm never cleaned out entirely of funds.
