Emilia-Romagna Bologna Hotel

We will end our autumn trip with a brief stay in Bologna, where we have had longer apartment stays in the past. Can anyone recommend a decently priced (under $200 ideally), comfortable but not fancy hotel for two nights?
Many thanks!

Bologna very much a conference venue, and I recall pricing and availability tended to reflect that. Unfortunately in this instance, we've done the same as you, getting apartments.

On one other visit we stayed in an agriturismo in Rastignano, which is about 35-40 mins by bus from the centre, and which would work fine for a 2 day stay. The room was decent & modern, breakfast ok albeit a little dull. Not a strong recco, but it was good enough for me to suggest it as an option.

I stayed at Hotel Roma the last time I stayed in a hotel in Bologna. It's steps from Piazza Maggiore. I was very happy with my stay there. I checked their website and the prices are a little below 200 euro, depending on your dates. It's not overly fancy but it was a splurge for me. The location was perfect though. I was also going to recommend Hotel Porta San Mamolo but... yikes!! Their prices went way up! Too bad because it's very close to Osteria al 15. Lucky you, returning to Italy once again!!

I’ve stayed at Hotel Porta San Mamolo a few times and in the past Palma & Brad used to host travel groups and always stayed there. I believe the owner is Roberto. I loved it and not expensive plus there’s a really good restaurant just a block away and it’s an easy short safe walk everywhere!!
