Cotswold Cottage - help me choose!

Alastair is one of those names (Jonathan is another) which can be spelled in different ways! His (very good) site now goes by the name of Sawday's.

Nice looking B&B in Minchinhampton: The Close.

OK, here's the twist: Hoo cottage and Brook Cottage WILL rent for 9 days!
If it were me, I would stay the 9 days in one place. Add the extra day to Bath. It is less than an hours drive from CC to Painswick. We will come up there one or two days. You can either drive down to our area, or see us when you are driving to or from Bath (however the trip works out).

Almost done!

As much as I love planning a vacation, this has really been stressful! I 99% sure I will pick either Hoo Cottage or Brook cottage - for several reasons, not the least of which is it will save me looking for yet another place to stay!

I really, really need to buy some guidebooks! As I wrote previously, I've only been to Bath for a day trip, so the question now is: do we stay in Bath for 3 nights, or do we use that extra night in CC ( yes, we can also rent for 10 days!)?? I need to read more about Bath, then decide if I want the extra day there or in CC!

I get the stress of planning. I feel your pain. I've been to Bath. Not sure I would spend a lot of time there. IMO you can do it in a day.

I just read through this thread. We're staying at Bolt Hole in Minch from Character Cottages. Sept 11 to 16. It's small. Wouldn't stay fr 10 days. Mmm maybe you're looking at another cottage with same name.
OK I'm no help.

Thanks Lisa - I think there are TWO Bolt Holes - one was tiny but there was another one that looked like a barn - or a garage - and pretty bland on the inside as well! I appreciate your thoughts on Bath. So far I'm thinking 2 nights is enough.....

Barb, it seems like you're getting close to a decision!

I'm glad to hear that you could stay longer than a week at those two cottages in Chipping Campden. Either one would be very nice I think. I'm not totally clear on the location of Brook cottage, but you'd be closer to the main part of High Street than at Hoo Cottage. Are you leaning toward one vs. the other? I know you were very interested in a thatched cottage.

I've been to Bath twice, both times for two nights, which was fine for us. (And I'm very interested in all things Jane Austen.) The first time we spent part of a day outside Bath at Stourhead. We were in Bath last year in late July, as we were getting ready to begin our Cotswold Way walk. It was extremely crowded. I preferred being in the countryside.

I like Brook cottage best followed by twine. Beds appear small inHoo with no reading light.
I know how difficult this process can be having just gone through it for our 4 nights in Sept. The price really adds up esp with rental agencies. Converting pounds to $ and then the extras PayPal charges. Yikes.
But I'm happy so far...

Altho the idea of a thatched and/or half-timbered cottage would be my dream, Twine won't do anything other than full weeks, so that's out, and altho Hoo Cottage is thatched and will do 9 or 10 days, the kitchen seems to be the smallest (but the garden is gorgeous!), so I'm going with Brook Cottage. Whew! Thank you for all your feedback and patience with me.

I absolutely adore Bath and would like to live there (but I am not finished with the countryside yet), but you have a good point about the time of year. It gets crowded with tourists (but they mostly stay in the central area near the abbey). We have never stayed there in summer.
