Ireland E sim help

Maureen

Hi Folks. Currently in Dublin and for unexplainable reasons (I spent over an hour on the phone with a Verizon rep last night) my Monthly International Plan will not work to switch to a local provider. Briefly eir or Meteor will pop up but then disappear.

In the past year it has worked just fine in London and Portugal on this phone.

I am severely geographically challenged and need to access maps. Also, travellling alone, walking home at night I put in 1 earbud and hear the directions while my phone is in a pocket.

Long story short, can someone suggest an e sim for Dublin?

Hi Maureen, Ireland has similar mobile providers as the UK. Can you find a store? Vodaphone, Virgin or Three are all good providers and I see they are in Ireland. Get a pay as you go SIM only plan and have them put it in your phone to be sure it works.

Thanks Pauline! I’m so used to doing things online that a brick and mortar store did not occur to me. I am also probably a bit jet lagged.

On my way to a Vodaphone store i noticed my phone had connected to the eir network. I’m calling it a St Brigit’s day miracle. Let’s hope it continues!

In retrospect I think the glitch was due to the massive storms (Eowyn and one unnamed) Ireland experienced the weekend before I arrived. I was there for more than 2 weeks, and when I left there were still 1,000 people without power. That might also explain why things looked good on the Verizon end.
