Lindau is a lovely German city on the Bodensee, aka Lake Constance. We visited in the summer of 2015, taking the ferry from Bregenz, Austria, which hosts a world-famous lakefront opera festival. The set for Turandot was under construction the summer we visited - amazing. We spent a very pleasant afternoon strolling Lindau, ate lunch at a beer garden, and then spent time people watching on the waterfront.

A clue is in the colour of the lake....

Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada? Or a European equivalent?

It's not Lake Louise, but it is Canada.

If the color (colour) is the hint I would say Emerald Lake

With that colour water, it couldn't be anywhere else. It is Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park.

yes an eternal flame, but not for war dead; albeit they are part of the reason for the flame.
This monument is the first and just one of many.

You are definitely correct about Europe.

Back in March 2017 I did a picture from Guadeloupe, which is a department of France and there was discussion on is the game Europe or Worldwide. If I remember correctly Pauline said things could be worldwide, but the board is focused on Europe so most have stayed in Europe. Since then I think we have had Ellis Is in NY and Emerald Lake, Canada and the rest have been Europe.

Hint 2: The flickering flame is asking for the same thing John Lennon did in bed.

I think I've cracked it now. Is it the World Peace Flame in the Hague.

 

[Colo]

When asked by a reporter what he was trying to achieve by staying in bed, Lennon answered spontaneously "Just give peace a chance"

With all the tension in world and the ongoing Winter Olympics I thought this pic would be a good one. The World Peace Flame in the Hague is correct - Back to you Eleanor.

BTW - I thought someone get it right way with the red bike lane and the tire on the left hand side.

Leeds castle?

Well done JustTravel, it is the beautiful fairytale Leeds Castle. I remember looking down onto Leeds Castle from the A20 on days out inour car in the late 1950s and thinking that it was every child’s dream of what a medieval castle should look like. The castle was privately owned and very shut. It is now one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kent and well worth visiting. The grounds are wonderfull too with streams, lakes and trees as well as a Mediterranean garden and what is described as the Culpepper Garden surrounded by low clipped hedges. There is even a maze.
