I'm 62, in excellent health with no ties. I'm looking to slow travel or even volunteer internationally doing something useful. I am currently employed full-time in a huge and soul-crushing international organization. But I'm getting to the point where I need something new and exciting far more than I need the paycheck.

FWIW that decision (when you make it) can be immensely liberating.

Oddly when I made that decision for myself, one of the spin-off realisations was how much holidays were crucial to me whilst working. It very much was something I looked forwards to, with planning / research helping connect me with the joy of the holiday earlier. In the back of my mind was always the realisation that there were good times on the horizon, and that was probably very useful for the soul.

We're probably biased (to the point of being enablers), but I think the consensus here would be to go get that excitement!
