Increased security 10 -30 May

In anticipation of the upcoming G7 meeting in Bari, Italy will be increasing the security entering and leaving Italy and they are recommending you give yourself extra time at airports.

Now being Italy, this may or may not change anything.

Thanks Bryan. Our flights tonight are Bos-Madrid; Madrid-Venice, we will see if there is anything beyond the usual.

We leave for Italy next Wed. 5/17 and are due to arrive in Pisa on 5/18. Will report back if security in Pisa seems more intensive than what we've experienced on previous trips flying into Milan or Rome.

We noticed a big change in the security in Rome when we were there a few weeks ago. Many more armed soldiers around the major tourist spots and piazza's. Scary but reassuring at the same time. The world has changed of the past couple of years.

We arrived in Venice yesterday on a connecting flight from Madrid. Everyone had to go through passport security again, in one giant mass of people. So yes, count on more time at the airports this month.
