Final notes: We left London on Monday morning. We hired Parker Car Service to take us to St. Pancras International to catch the Eurostar to Brussels. For £18.40, it is worth the convenience even though we could have taken the tube at Borough station which is only a block and a half away directly to King Cross St. Pancras.
Check-in and security for the Eurostar were quite easy and pretty orderly. All our stuff went through the x-ray machine with no problem including a small kitchen knife. My total hip replacement did not trigger the alarm. The ride itself was uneventful and on time. We talked some with the passengers across from us - a couple from Los Angeles and a woman who lives in London but commutes to Brussels for work, traveling with her cute one year old son and his nanny.
