The latest historical documentary of Italian journalist Aldo Cazzullo, which aired on Italian TV La7 on February 19, beautifully showcases the exteriors and interiors of Florence's cathedral, Palazzo Medici and Palazzo Vecchio, with the backdrop of the PAZZI CONSPIRACY OF APRIL 26, 1478, during which Giuliano de Medici, younger brother of Lorenzo Il Magnifico, was assassinated under the high altar of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, while his brother miraculously escaped death with the assistance of friends and family members. The documentary traces the story of this conspiracy in meticulous detail, beginning years prior to the assassination and continuing afterwards to recount the fates of the leaders of the failed conspiracy. The program is replete with copious gorgeous shots of Florence's monuments seen by drone, making this production a very high-quality historical travelogue with the undercurrent of a murder-mystery. The documentary is 1 hour, 54 minutes in length and is narrated in Italian. It ends at Piazzale Michelangelo, where the narrator offers his personal reflection of Florence's significance to Western Civilization.
