I’ve been fortunate to visit some amazing museums during my travels. Here are a few of my favorites.

20829

Prado Museum - Madrid, Spain

20830

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum - Glasgow, Scotland

20831

Paper Museum - Amalfi, Italy

20832

Rock Museum - Munich, Germany (Olympiaturm)

20833

Katten Kabinet - Amsterdam, Netherlands

Some of the wonderful Lewis Chessmen, in the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
The rest are in the British Museum, and I've also seen one in the Viking Museum in Denmark.
The thinking is that as they were found in Scotland, they should all be together in Scotland.

Last year, during our five days in Bologna, we bookmarked a few museums in case of rain, as we don't usually frequent museums. A day of rain did indeed appear, and we managed to visit the Museo della Specola (astronomy museum), and the Geological museum. We were hoping also to see the Mineralogy display at another museum, but didn't manage to make it.

A few more, this time from the Poli Museum of Grappa in - where else? - Bassano del Grappa, Italy. I liked the chart they put up there that makes the distinction between the various types quite clear (enlarge for more detail) :
