Selecting Train Seats

I haven't yet bought our tickets for the train from Edinburgh to London, but in an earlier post someone recommended sitting on the left side of the train since it follows the eastern coast. I really appreciated that advice, since I normally expect the train to be hidden in a ditch and my view to view of pretty much nothing! However, when I looked at seat options, all I see are front or rear facing, and airplane-style seats or one with a table. Is there any way to know which seat numbers will be on the left side? Thanks again.

You didn't mention which operator you will be using, but this page might help you. It has seat plans of various rail operators in Europe, including England.
It opens a link to an Azuma Coach seat plan, which might be the relevant one in your case :

Thanks @joe . Right now Lumo is the only company sellling tickets, but if train seats are like airplane seats maybe the numbering is the same for all of them.
