Le Cerisier is a one-bedroom gite located on a lovely property about a 15 minute drive from Cognac. The British owners have renovated the gite from a barn, making a comfortable apartment on their property, across a large yard from their own home.

You enter the property from the parking space through another renovated barn into a large, flower-filled courtyard. Up a short flight of steps to the little terrace, with a table and two chairs overlooking the neighboring vineyard. Entering the gite, this floor is a large living room/dining/kitchen area. The kitchen is well equipped for making complete meals, with stove, oven, fullsize fridge, microwave, and cooking utensils. Down a flight of stairs is a hall leading to the bedroom and bathroom. From this lower level is also a door leading out to a lovely little walled garden and patio area with lounge chairs. All windows have pulldown screens and exterior shutters.
All furnishings were in excellent shape, and the whole property is well maintained by the helpful owners. Wifi worked well, there is a beautiful pool area, you can use the owner's washing machine, and the only sounds at night were birdcalls.
Segonzac is a small town with a decent grocery store, two bakeries, a wine shop, and a butcher. Many more stores and restaurants a short drive away, though we were steered away from the town's sole restaurant. We found plenty to do in the area, driving west to La Rochelle and the coast, north to Aulnay, west to Saintes, and to the villages south of Angeloume.
