Ireland Walking/food/pub tours in Dublin

In both Lisbon in April and London in November I went on a walking tour my first night and realized for me it’s a it’s a great way to begin the jet lag battle. Looking for a good walking tour in the evening at the end of January, food included is a plus!

Most walking tours are during the day. If you are wanting a guided tour in the evening, then you may need to look at a private tour, which is likely to be expensive. Pat Liddy's walking tours do private tours and get consistently good reviews on Trip Advisor.

I found an amazing evening walking food tour with Lauren and went my 1st night in Dublin:
Lo on the Road
We went to about 8 places- everything from oysters to gelato to a pub. Lauren knows the cooks/owners of all the places on her tours and has a great farm/sea to table ethos. She also has food tours in Florence, too.

So how did you all get around Ireland???

Drive yourself?, tour bus? , other??

If your bus, did you have to climb many stairs to get into it?

Thank you

I took the National Express bus from Dublin Airport T2 to the Wellington stop, then walked across the Ha’penny Bridge to Zanzibar Locke.

I used a combination of public transportation to get around Dublin and the outskirts. The train DART (north to Howth, and south to Dun Laoghaire and Forty Steps) is fantastic. The bus and tram system in the city are great. I bought a LEAP card (5 euro) and was so impressed with the recharge app. I did not get the tourist one so can’t speak to that.

I lucked out to be there for St Brigid’s Day and that weekend there were a lot of special tours focusing on women in Ireland’s history. I did a lot of walking tours.

I wanted to go to the Cliffs of Moher and took my first ever bus tour. It was painful (the guide made a lot of ‘jokes’ about his mother in law and wife, and commented on different nationalities in a not so positive way) and now I know it’s not my cup of tea. I don’t remember the steps to the bus being particularly difficult but I am used to taking public transportation.

I did not drive. My brother in law gave me driving lessons in his town outside of London about 25 years ago. I can’t wrap my head around being on the other side of the road; I know my limitations.

I hope that was helpful?
