We're going to Cape Town and Kruger National Park in April. We have no plans to cancel the trip. One good thing is that other than Egypt, there are no reported cases on the entire African continent.
Thanks Tim (I think ). Did you mean that the teaching hospital is set up now to screen for it?At the risk of being a Killjoy, this is likely to be because they are not yet looking for it. I work in a microbiology lab, and did so in South Africa, albeit more than 30 years ago. Getting Screening up and running was a major job for us (and by us I mean a major teaching hospital in the UK) - we have been operational for less than two weeks.
April, particularly in Cape Town, will be the beginning of Winter and the Flu season. It is a little early to speculate just how bad COVID might be, but there is significant contact between RSA and the Far East so it would not surprise me at all if it were full blown epidemic by then.
Yes - sorry I'm a little incoherant after working almost every day for a month. The lab in which I work is one of the main COVID testing labs in the UK. We are expecting the testing algorithm to be changes in the next day or so - and will be inundated with work. Thanks Tim (I think ). Did you mean that the teaching hospital is set up now to screen for it?
